Injuries and unavailability have ruled five Colac district league footballers out of this year’s interleague squad.
Selectors will finalise their team tonight for this weekend’s AFL Victoria Worksafe Community Championships clash against the Kyabram district league, following tonight’s training session at Colac’s Central Reserve.
But coach Steve O’Dowd said a host of players had already pulled out following Saturday’s round six matches.
South Colac onballer Ben Lynch, strained hamstring, and Roos goalkicking midfielder Josh Black, wedding, are both unavailable, while star Birregurra recruit Sean O’Neill, who copped a knock on Saturday, and Saints premiership forward Sam Green, work commitments, will also miss.
Otway Districts co-coach Zach Hickleton is also unavailable due to a prior commitment.
“The last few days we’ve been checking on who’s gotten through the weekend, and that helps shape our thoughts on how the team will come together,” O’Dowd said this afternoon.
“There has been some players carrying injuries, so we’re working with them, but are lot of them are still hopeful of playing so we’ll give them a chance,” he said.
O’Dowd said he and fellow selectors would meet after tonight’s training session an, after notifying players, would release a final team with emergencies this afternoon.
