Wind blades set to arrive

Trucks are delivering tower components to the Mount Gellibrand Wind Farm.

Five towers at the Mount Gellibrand Wind Farm are complete and will receive blades in coming weeks.

Acciona Energy project manager Andrew Tshaikiwsky said work at the site was ramping up, with contractors also installing four more towers.

“There is a busy six weeks coming up, and we expect completion of all main component deliveries by mid February,” Mr Tshaikiwsky said.

The main components include towers coming from Keppel Prince at Portland, which trucks will carry through Colac to the site 25 kilometres east of the city.

Mr Tshaikiwsky said both of the substation’s main power transformers had been assembled and the wind farm’s control building was due to arrive in February.

“Electrical cable installation is about 45 per cent complete,” he said.

“We’re working towards commencing the commissioning of turbines in April.”
