The move to make Colac an RV friendly town is a great one. Colac is well placed on the way to and from Melbourne and return from the Gt. Ocean Road. It makes a great location to stop for those returning hire vehicles or on the way out heading west. We have many food outlets for purchasing supplies, eateries of all kinds and a flourishing local fayre industry. We have a great visitor information centre. Colac is on the edge of the second largest volcanic plains in the world with lots of tourist opportunities. There are also outlets for camping supplies and gas. As a ‘grey nomads’ we enjoy staying in RV towns and probably contribute quite a lot to the local economy, park site fees, meals, retail outlets. People touring in RV’s and caravans are not looking for permanent accommodation in motels. Parking areas or simply the length and width of a parking bay is important. Access to a ‘dump point’ – won’t describe for the faint hearted – can be pretty important. Check on the web sites for RV friendly towns and Colac would certainly not be alone.
