RISKY CROSSING: Petition pushes for traffic lights

Ruth Spokes, with the support of Colac business people including Holt’s Mowers and Gun Shop’s Rebecca Stinchcombe, is calling on people to sign a petition asking the State Government to install traffic lights at Colac’s Murray Street-Armstrong Street intersection. COLAC’S Ruth Spokes has ramped up her campaign for traffic lights at a busy highway intersection, more than five years after launching her fight.

  1. Why not get rid of all traffic lights and put in roundabouts and I mean roundabouts that are not big and have plants growing in the middle but a smaller one where trucks can easily go round and as for a ByPass why isn’t Camperdown asking for one? People here complaining need to live in Geelong or Melbourne and you will see what traffic congestion is like.

  2. Well its great to see Mr Riordan supporting the lights, but only asking for them to be done before the dual lanes reach Colac could be too late… especially since that won’t happen until about 2020. That’s more than enough time for something tragic to happen.
Also, we should check with another reader how he feels these lights will affect the town. They may have some weird relation to Violet Town which is meant to of been killed of by the bypass. LoL
