  1. The main problem with the traffic on Murray st is the trucks that are only passing through, they are what we need detoured… especially the cattle trucks which leave a trail of liquid manure running from them.
Why not ask the transport companies and drivers that pass through here to give their opinion?

  2. I am on the fence here, while I can see the appeal of diverting heavy vehicles away from shoppers in the CBD I would like to know more about the impact to tourism and regional growth if traffic were diverted around the town. Tour buses patronize local businesses frequently as they complete tours, travelers take advantage of the growing hospitality options available and it gives the town exposure to potential new residents.

Personally I would prefer to see further development of the business district within the parallel streets to provide residents with further retail options while allowing businesses that benefit from highway traffic to continue to use the traffic to their advantage.

  3. It is absolutely needed! I live on Murray st and have noticed an increase in trucks using the road since the duplication to Winchelsea has reach near completion.
Maybe if Vic Roads were to sit up the street and watch how how the trucks travel through the town with little regard for the speed limit or traffic lights, they might change their mind. But they don’t really care about fixing anything until there’s a sufficient body count. ☹

  4. a multi million dollar Bypass for who? s few whinging shop owners and shoppers? last time this was talked about they devalued a number of properties with their lines on the map and the most outrageous plan was north of the Highway, just how important do these people wanting this think they are? You people really need to spend some time living in Melbourne then you will know what traffic is like

Spare a thought for the kids at the school on the highway; what fumes must they get?
