ELLA O’Brien knows well the on-field skill and off-field mantras of Collingwood footballer Harry O’Brien.
The Magpie now knows the passion the Colac youngster has for the club – and was happy to tell the world.
Ella, 11, used her artistic skills to draw a picture of O’Brien running away from Geelong’s Cameron Ling following the Magpies’ 2010 premiership.
She sent the picture to Collingwood headquarters during the school holidays, but didn’t find out until this week O’Brien had “tweeted” the drawing to his followers.
“A big thank you to Ella O’Brien from Colac who sent me this wonderful drawing of myself running away from Cameron Ling,” O’Brien tweeted.
Ella, the daughter of Colac’s Leonie and Michael O’Brien, said the shaggy-haired Brazilian native was her favourite player.
“He has respect for everyone and is really good at football, and we share the same last name,” she said.
Ella said she would cheer on Collingwood when the Magpies began their 2012 AFL campaign.
“I think we’ll be in the grand final again,” she said.
