Shooter reveals secret to success

Colac Tigers youngster Dana Lucas dedicates most nights to shooting 200 goals through the netball ring in the back yard of her Elliminyt home.

The secret to Colac Tigers netballer Dana Lucas’s shooting accuracy is one of pure hard work.

“I try to practise every night, I’ll shoot 200 goals and it really does help,” the 15-and-under rising star revealed ahead of tomorrow’s grand final against South Barwon.

Lucas has played a major role leading the Tigers to a decider this season, stepping up in the shooting circle during the finals series.

The 14-year-old, who celebrates her 15th birthday next Thursday, has netted 57 of the Tigers’ 64 finals goals and is eagerly anticipating tomorrow’s decider with her teammates for her first netball premiership after two failed grand final attempts.

Colac takes on the Swans at Kardinia Park, with the two clubs the form sides of the 15-and-under Division One competition after finishing outside the top two.

“We’ve played the last two grand finals, but just haven’t quite got there,” Lucas said.
