Colac Tigers footballer Cooper Stephens has earned selection in the AFL Academy for potential future draftees.
The AFL today announced its level one academy group, which will consist of 22 players eligible for the draft in 2019.
The NAB AFL Academy, launched in 1997, aims to prepare the country’s best young players for the step up into senior AFL football.
Stephens starred for the Geelong Falcons under-16 team this year, and earned a co-captaincy role with Vic Country.
He will attend his first camp with the academy in Melbourne in December.
The AFL will release the level two squad, featuring players eligible for the 2018 draft, later in the year following the NAB AFL All Stars game in grand final week.
