Geelong Falcons officials say Colac junior footballer Cooper Stephens is a chance to captain Vic Country’s under-16 team at this year’s national championships.
Stephens was one of 11 Falcons who earned selection in Vic Country’s initial 52-man squad this week.
Their selections came after going undefeated to win this year’s Vic Country Championships.
Stephens co-captained the Falcons’ side and was among the best players in all three wins, and coach Cameron Loftus said he expected Stephens to not only make the Vic Country squad, but to be a captain of the side.
“Cooper was just an outstanding leader for us, I have no doubts he could play TAC Cup football with the Falcons’ under-18 side right now,” he said.
