Karl McSparron’s talents are not limited to the football field. The Apollo Bay sportsman blasted 160 runs in his first cricket match of the season on Saturday.

Apollo Bay cricket officials hope Karl McSparron’s knock of 160 will drive the batsman to push for a top-grade return.

Sharks co-captain Darren Gill said McSparron was not going to play this season, before stepping into the club’s Division Three side on Saturday.

He blasted 16 fours and six sixes to lead the team to a six-wicket victory against Warrion.

“He wasn’t going to play this season, so to make 160 is a great effort,” Gill said.

“Hopefully this will get him enthusiastic about playing cricket again,” he said.
