  1. thankyou all for your comments.good to hear from you Isabella)

  2. Sorry for the families loss, Damien is a shining example for everyone. I honestly think that being an organ donor should be compulsory if you get a driver’s licence, tax file number or any government benefit. If any death can save the lives of other people it should happen.

My family have been through this twice. My thoughts go out to the family of this wonderful man. By sheer coincidence I met the child who received part of my grandsons liver. He is doing well.

  4. I am 43 and I listed as an organ donor at 18. My view is, if you would accept an organ to save your own life or that of a loved one (which everyone would) then you should be prepared to donate your own…

  5. What a wonderfully selfless person. He will live on forever. It is just a shame that the final decision with organ donation rests with next of kin. This needs to change so only the donor is responsible for giving consent for donating their organs. RIP Damian.

  6. Wow what a well written article. Damian IS a hero. I only hope my organs are viable for someone when I pass as I have been a donor for years. I applaud the doctors and staff at both hospitals and Sharon for her bravery. I wish her family and Damian’s family our sincere condolences and know that they are very lucky to have had such a fantastic man in their lives. They are very proud of him by the way they speak and will cherish the happy memories of Damian.

  7. I am so shocked to hear about Damian this morning, he’s an old friend of mine. Damian was a beautiful person, loved life especially his kids.
I am so sad that you have left us, you are a real hero Damian.
    Love Isabella xxx

  8. He will be missed by many, but will live on for some time in part (no pun intended).
R.I.P Blacky & good on ya.

  9. My thoughts are with you all at this very difficult time…Damian will always be remembered as a hero…but missed greatly by his friends and family…Cherish all your wonderful memories of him. In Gods Care now.
