WHALES entertained Apollo Bay and Skenes Creek residents and visitors at the weekend, with reports of sightings along the coast.
People saw two whales, possibly southern rights, between Wild Dog Creek and Skenes Creek about 9.30am on Sunday.
The Colac Herald has also received reports of a whale, possibly two, off the coast of Kennett River today.
Skenes Creek’s Anna Smith said yesterday she was surprised to see a whale swimming west from Skenes Creek towards Apollo Bay.
“It’s the first time I’ve ever seen one going that direction; they’re usually going the other way,” Mrs Smith said.
