COLAC and district shooters will have a final outing this weekend for the end of duck hunting season.
Colac Field and Game member Terry McCrickard said the season had been disappointing, apart from the opening weekend in March.
“All the ducks sort of took off and they’ve only really started to come back now,” Mr McCrickard said.
“A few blokes have shot on dams in the district, the ones on the dams have stayed.”
Mr McCrickard said dry weather in Colac and district meant the birds preferred New South Wales and Queensland.
“Ducks have got a pretty good sixth sense and they know where there’s water,” he said.
“There’s not much we can do about it.”
Mr McCrickard said shooters would try their luck for the final weekend of the season.
“I know a few blokes that are going out this weekend to Lake Corangamite and Colac, just because it’s the last and they’ll have a bit of a look around,” he said.
