Police investigate station gunshot

VICTORIA Police are investigating how a gun discharged inside Camperdown Police Station.

A police media spokesperson confirmed that a “firearm was accidentally discharged” at the station.

The spokesperson said a Victoria Police Ethical Standards Department was investigating the incident.

“As a matter of course ESD were notified and the matter will be investigated,” the spokesperson said.

Acting Sergeant Tanya Barbary of Camperdown police confirmed the incident and said “there were no injuries as a result”.

“It’s in the hands of the ESD and it would be inappropriate to comment further,” Sgt Barbary said.

The police media spokesperson said the gun shot happened about 8pm on April 16.
