Mobile phones dropping out

PHONE call drop-outs have added to Telstra’s Colac woes.

Telstra south-west general manager Bill Mundy said software issues at the company’s Colac base station were causing mobile phone calls to drop out across the region.

The phone giant earlier this month also admitted its Next G internet network was struggling to meet demand, causing slow wireless internet.

“Approximately two weeks ago we went through a software upgrade process at the Colac central site,” Mr Mundy said.

“Unfortunately that upgrade has resulted in a deterioration in service which people would notice as a slowing of their ability to access the internet or drop outs with their voice calls,” he said.

Mr Mundy said Telstra regretted the temporary software issues and he urged customers to be patient, assuring them the company was seeking a solution.
