A COLAC man escaped serious injury when the vehicle he was driving crashed near Birregurra.
Ambulance Victoria spokesman John Mullen said paramedics took the man, aged in his 30s, to Colac Hospital with minor injuries after his car left the Princes Highway, hit a sign and stopped in a paddock about 5.30am yesterday.
Colac police and Birregurra Fire Brigade also attended the scene near Birregurra Creek, about 17 kilometres east of Colac.
Birregurra Fire Brigade captain Charlie Mason said the man, who was driving a Ford Falcon sedan, was travelling towards Geelong when he crashed.
He said the man “wasn’t badly hurt” and CFA crews took precautions to ensure the car wasn’t leaking fuel and disconnected its battery before clearing the scene.
