International gig for Colac’s Gaga

COLAC’s own Lady Gaga is in high demand.

Performer Lisa Brien has travelled around the country as Lady Gaga for the past eight months and she ended the year on a high with an overseas gig.

Brien donned her blonde wig, sequins and high heels for an audience of 400 people in Asia on Christmas Eve.

Colac‘s Lisa Brien has established a career as a Lady Gaga tribute act which has taken her around Australia and overseas, performing on stage for hundreds of people.

She usually performs in an Australian Rihanna and Lady Gaga Tribute Show but she travelled to the concert without Rihanna, otherwise known as Valerie Gery.

“It was a bit of a culture shock at first but it was a really good experience to have,” Brien said.

“I was a bit hesitant to go because it was over Christmas and I would miss Christmas with my daughter, but it’s a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity,” she said.

“I think her new song, Marry the Night, really, really went down well but they loved anything I did which made it easy.”

Brien said she looked forward to booking more overseas jobs.

“The people that got us to go over there were really impressed with the job that I did – it’s a relief because the pressure was on,” she said.

“They’re talking more closer countries to us, just like Japan, and Singapore might be on the cards hopefully.”

Brien was back in Australia to bring in the new year with Rihanna and 2000 people at Renmark, South Australia.

“I got to do the countdown, which was cool,” she said.

Brien said her career had taken off since securing the Gaga gig eight months ago.

“I’ve been performing for many years but not going very big with it and now it’s my job,” she said.

“I was just a waitress from Colac, now I’m doing gigs every weekend and travelling all over Australia and overseas.”
