WHAT do you get if you cross cycling, costumes and hurdles?
Colac riding enthusiasts can find out first-hand when Forrest Mountain Bike and Cycling Club hosts its first cyclocross event on Sunday afternoon.
The sport consists of laps of a short course featuring pavement, wooded trails, grass, steep hills and obstacles.
Riders must quickly dismount and carry their bikes while navigating the obstruction, and remount.
Club secretary Roland Eck said the club set the event up around Colac’s Eastern Reserve and was open for anyone to compete.
“The course will involve everything around the baseball-cricket field and netball courts, including a little bit of bitumen, lots of grass, between trees and we’ve created a couple of 40cm hurdles,” he said.
The open and junior events will kick off at 1pm and 1.45pm, while the cyclocross will commence at 2.15pm.
